OPM singer dubbed the ‘Revival King,’ Jojo Mendrez has launched his first original single titled “Nandito Lang Ako.”

The balladeer, who has previously released reimagined versions of “Basta Ikaw,” “Magkabilang Mundo,” and “Somewhere in My Past,” talked about his experience in recording his latest single composed by ABS-CBN Music creatives, content, and operations head and renowned songwriter-producer Jonathan Manalo.

“For me, para buo at kumpleto ang pagiging singer, dapat meron kang isang Jonathan Manalo composition,” narrated Jojo.

“Nag-take talaga ako ng tranquilizer the first day na nag-meet kami [ni Jonathan] during the recording session. Medyo complicated yung song na crineate niya gawa ng pabago-bago ang tono, tumataas sa dulo,” he added.

Jojo started joining singing contests in Quezon province at the age of 10. About a decade later, he went to Manila and took singing lessons at the Music School of Ryan Cayabyab. He won the 2018 Star Awards for Music Revival Song of the Year for his remake of “Handog.” His revival of “Somewhere In My Past” already got 50 million combined views across multiple platforms.

The upcoming music video for “Nandito Lang Ako” will feature the Superstar Nora Aunor.

Jojo is also set to release reimagined versions of more OPM classics, including “Tamis Ng Unang Halik” and “I Love You Boy.”
